The Music for Healing Volunteer program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
in Los Angeles rewards volunteers with the opportunity to experience
the healing power of their musical talents firsthand while interacting
with those in need. By volunteering in this special program, musicians
can give back to the community in a compassionate way.
Recently Samick/Greg Bennett Guitars endorsed artist, Les July was
able to participate in this worthwhile project by stopping by and
visiting with 24 year old Shelsi Stolworthy who was diagnosed with
cancer on January 25, 2007.
A few days before Shelsi left the hospital, Les, who has been so
supportive of her, came in to ask is she would be interested in
participating in a documentary for the hospital. She has done a lot of
work as an ¡°extra¡± for TV and movies, and being a singer, is
comfortable in front of the camera, therefore she was happy to say yes.
Les said, "You might call her the bravest young lady on the planet!
The Music for Healing Volunteer Program at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center
brings the healing power of music directly into patients' rooms.
Through this unique program, musicians visit with and perform for
patients, families and Medical Center staff. I feel honored and blessed
to be able to share my talents and use music for the purpose for which
it was originally intended."
